The Events Of Netflix's 'Daredevil' Have Officially Been Confirmed As Canon
Marvel dropped a new teaser trailer for the upcoming series Echo, which focuses on Wilson Fisk’s niece Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox. The teaser shows black and white scenes from Netflix’s Daredevil followed by the MCU’s Hawkeye series before showing scenes from the new series. This compilation in addition to Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law as well as Kingpin’s presence in Hawkeye seems to finally confirm the Daredevil series as canon to the MCU.
However, canon is more complex when dealing with a multiverse. Echo executive producer Brad Winderbaum claimed that the Netflix series will be canon to “the Sacred Timeline.” With the multiverse now in play, nothing is restricting the MCU from only focusing on the main timeline.

Despite its place in the MCU canon, Echo offers a stand-alone experience for action fans. The series will be the first produced under Marvel Spotlight. According to Winderbaum, “Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, and in the case of Echo, focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity. Just like comics fans didn’t need to read Avengers or Fantastic Four to enjoy a Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, our audience doesn’t need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what’s happening in Maya’s story.” All five episodes of Echo will be available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9.
