The Doctor Who Christmas special The Church on Ruby Road, is the gift that keeps on giving. The most recent issue of Doctor Who Magazine revealed that the special will include a musical number composed by Murray Gold with lyrics written by showrunner Russell T. Davies. The musical number will feature Ncuti Gatwa as the new doctor, Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, Davina McCall as herself, and a chorus of Goblins.

Davis shared his excitement for the sequence with the magazine, “Our aim was to create a big-style movie with this [special]. And it has a song. So you can all sing along. It was always my intention to make this a big centrepiece right from day one.” The lyricist continued to praise Gatwa’s talents, singing and otherwise.

McCall was also thrilled to be part of the production. She said, “It is beyond an honour to be asked to appear in not only Doctor Who but also Ncuti’s first episode as the new Doctor. It was such an extraordinary experience and Russell has written you all a Christmas delight. Now I just can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

An additional scene will give viewers the treat of seeing Gatwa dressed in a kilt and dancing wildly to the song “Touch” by Hybrid Minds. Davis hopes that fans enjoy the holiday special. He said, “From Day One in this job, I wanted Doctor Who back on Christmas Day!  And with Ncuti, Millie, Davina, and the Goblin King, I hope it’s a feast for all the family!” The Church on Ruby Road premieres on December 25 on Disney+, BBC One, and BBC iPlayer.
