The CW's 'The Flash' Will Air Its Final Season Beginning In February

DC

The final run for the fastest man alive has a starting date. The CW has set a premiere date for the ninth and final season of The Flash. The 13-episode farewell for Barry, the rest of Team Flash, and Arrowverse Earth-Prime as a whole is set to begin on Wednesday, February 8 at 8 PM. After seven and a quarter seasons on Tuesdays, bar “Elseworlds” part 1, The Flash had moved to Wednesdays upon returning from a winter break after Armageddon last season. It was noticeably absent from the network’s midseason schedule when they released it last week.

However, The CW’s president of entertainment Brad Schwartz, who was named to the position in November, does acknowledge the importance of the show, saying “The Flash will be remembered as one of the greatest shows in the history of The CW, and everyone involved…should be very proud.” He applauds the show’s team, calling the final season epic and promising twists, guest stars, and other surprises to come over its course.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as the scarlet speedster, with Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Dani Nicolet, Kayla Compton, Brandon McKnight and a freshly upgraded Jon Cor (Chillblaine) returning as series regulars. It has a lot to do in just 13 episodes for its already-present characters and lingering story arcs, let alone whatever this upcoming season introduces and touches on as it closes down an entire universe. If it’s as epic as it’s being touted, fans are probably in for a good time.
