'The Acolyte' Trailer Has Broken Lucasfilm Records
“Records are meant to be broken.” The quote is credited to Richard Branson, Red Auerbach, Mark Spitz, and Michael Phelps who broke Mark Spitz’s. It’s also a quote that’s relevant right this very moment for Lucasfilm. The Acolyte, the upcoming series set in the Star Wars universe has broken a rather impressive record: most views for a Star Wars trailer in the first 24 hours. It has outdone trailers for The Mandalorian, Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Andor, which are its competitors, at least in the live-action sense.
The series, for those unfamiliar, will be focusing on the events of the Jedi order 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. The time before the movies has been explored in written works as well as animation in canon and has been seen in video games in the old expanded universe. However, The Acolyte is the first live-action work in the franchise focused purely on happening before the events of The Phantom Menace, making it in a sense, a prequel to a prequel.
When the trailer was shown, the date of the pilot being released to Disney+ was also revealed: June 4, alongside the second episode of the show. The trailer can be seen below.
