Despite the mixed success of Disney’s Star Wars series to date, its latest live-action series, The Acolyte, appears to have the potential to become one of the most successful of its streaming series. Disney reported that the series premiere this past week, consisting of the first two episodes, Lost/Found and Revenge/Justice, generated an eye-popping 4.8 million views on its flagship streaming platform, Disney+. By contrast, the last live-action Star Wars series, Ahsoka, generated 14 million views in its first five days. Assuming sustained interest in the series over the upcoming weekend, The Acolyte is on track to blast past that record.

The mystery-thriller series, created by Star Wars newcomer, Lesley Headland (Russian Doll), is set approximately two centuries before the events of The Phantom Menace during the twilight of the High Republic era, as the Jedi are forced to investigate the emergence of dark side powers. The series features Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games, The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones, 1917) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
