Tatiana Maslany Warping To The 'Star Trek' Universe
Tatiana Maslany is making her way to the Star Trek universe. It was announced at New York Comicon and reported by Variety that Maslany will have a recurring guest role in the upcoming project Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The show is a direct spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery. As seen in Discovery, it will be set in the 32nd century, about 100 years after a cataclysmic event known as “The Burn”. The Burn left all of the dilithium in the galaxy inert, making warp drive impossible. Discovery fixed the problem, and now Starfleet and the Federation are trying to rebuild themselves. Starfleet Academy will follow the first wave of cadets in the new Starfleet.
Maslany is best known for her roles in Orphan Black, where she played a variety of characters, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where she played Jen Walters and her alter ego, She-Hulk. She is joining a cast that includes Holly Hunter, Tig Notaro, and Robert Picardo. Alex Kurtzman will executive produce. He and Noga Landau will act as showrunners. It is currently unknown what character Maslany will be playing. Starfleet Academy is expected to debut in 2025 or 2026, and a second season has already been green-lit.
