Taron Egerton Stars In The First Trailer For 'Tetris', The New Docudrama About The Classic Video Game
This week, Apple TV+ released their first trailer for Tetris. This new docudrama series tells the unbelievable story of how the classic game Tetris became the worldwide phenomenon that it STILL is today.
Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the series features Taron Egerton (Rocketman, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle) in the lead role as Henk Rogers, who was looking to get Tetris from behind the Iron Curtain, escape the KGB and Russian State, and bring it into the hands of kids all around the world.

The cast also features Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Sofya Lebedeva (Vikings: Valhalla, 1703), Ben Miles (Andor, The Crown), Rick Yune (The Fast and the Furious, Die Another Day), and Roger Allam (V for Vendetta, Game of Thrones).
At the time of Tetris’ creation, Intellectual Property did not exist in Soviet Russia. The state technically owned everything, including Tetris designer Alexey Patinjov’s work on everyone’s favorite four-square puzzler. From the trailer, it does look like the creative team behind the show has taken some artistic license. However, those who know the full story behind Tetris will have to agree that the series’ tagline sums it up perfectly: “The game you couldn’t put down. The story you couldn’t make up”.
Tetris drops on March 31st, 2023 exclusively on Apple TV+.
