This year’s New York Comic Con (NYCC) saw an important meeting of creators from the Star Wars universe. The focus was on the High Republic era, a recent addition to the incredible amount of reading material already available to the public. Writers like Claudia Gray, George Mann, Cavan Scott, and Lydia Kang were present, besides others like Lucasfilm creative director Michael Siglain and artist Ario Anindito. In addition, several books and comics were announced for Phase II of the highly anticipated series.

Three books are planned for this stage: Cataclysm by Lydia Kang, an adult fiction Star Wars novel. A middle-grade novel called Quest For Planet X was written by Tessa Gratton. And a YA novel called Path Of Vengeance by Cavan Scott. It features already-seen characters like Marda Ro and the Nameless. The drawing process was also presented in Ario Anindito’s art from Star Wars: The High Republic issues #1 and #2. From the first black-and-white to full colors and dialogue. Besides this, variant covers for The High Republic: The Blade #4, written by Charles Soule, and Star Wars: The High Republic #5 were also announced.

According to the official Star Wars website, this book will be released in October 2023. Furthermore, Claudia Gray, already well-known in the Star Wars community, will release a comic in February of 2023 called Star Wars: The High Republic: Quest of the Jedi. The comic will be a 30-page one-shot separate from other ongoing series. Also, the manga Edge of Balance will continue, now called Edge of Balance: Precedent. It is written by Daniel José Older and Tomio Ogata. And the best for last: Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Charles Soule, Cavan Scott, Daniel Jose Older, Charles Mann, Zoraida Cordova, Lydia Kang, and Tessa Gratton will be writing a YA anthology scheduled for July 2023.
