'Superman: Legacy' Cast Grows With New Additions
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirmed via Twitter Vanity Fair’s report of Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Isebela Merced joining the cast of Superman: Legacy. This announcement comes only a few weeks after David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were announced as the leads of Clark Kent, otherwise known as Superman, and Lois Lane.
Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner, who is described as a ‘hulking mass of masculinity’ with a distinctive red bowl haircut, which Vanity Fair confirms is a part of Fillion’s costume for the film. Fillion does have a bit of experience in taking on the role of a Green Lantern from his voice work for ten different titles within the DC Animated Universe.

Gathegi is cast as Michael Holt, or Mister Terrific, a brilliant inventor within the DC comics who has a “beef” with Batman. Seeing how Gunn writes this potential story arch into his new universe will be interesting. Merced is playing Hawkgirl, who has been a mainstay within DC comics since the 1940s.
As the WGA strike went underway, many fans were concerned the strike would take a toll on the project; however, Gunn announced the script was turned in a few days beforehand, and the film is now in pre-production. Superman: Legacy is the first film in Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran’s new DC Universe.
Superman: Legacy is slated for release on July 11, 2025.
