The new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 confirms that the previous series protagonist Liu Kang has ascended to becoming the God of Fire. The trailer also shows old favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Raiden, Kano, Goro, Stryker, Jax, and more.
We also heard the voice of the iconic announcer saying the series’ signature line “finish him”. The trailer was released on June 8th.
RELATED:
As with most trailers related to the franchise, characters are seen using their most well-known moves, and plenty of violence is shown, as well as many taunts. The game continues its one-on-one fighting style with each character showing different super-human and fantasy-style special moves and abilities, with many environmental hazards when fighting. The trailer also often showed characters coming in from off-screen to interfere with the fight, presumably to assist one of the two fighters.
The game will release on September 19th of this year. As with the vast majority of games within the franchise, it is expected to be rated M for mature, as was expressed in the trailer. It will be available on PC, Switch, PS5, and Xbox series X/S.
