Success of 'John Wick 4' Spurs Discussion of a Fifth Movie in the Franchise
After its second weekend, John Wick: Chapter 4 has surpassed $245 million globally. That success has brought discussion of making a fifth film in the franchise, with director Chad Stahelski saying that it’s very flattering that the audience genuinely want more.
Talking on The Hollywood Reporter’s Behind the Screen podcast series, Stahelski said “If Keanu and I, a few months from now sit down at a whiskey bar in Japan again and go ‘Yep, we’ll never do another one of those,’ and then all of a sudden go, ‘Yeah, but I got an idea,’ we’re open to it.”

The fourth instalment in the Keanu Reeves-led action series, John Wick: Chapter 4 aimed to be the biggest of the lot. Filming in locations such as New York, Paris, Berlin, and Osaka, it had the longest runtime for the series to date. Fans certainly enjoyed the action-packed adventure, with it being hailed as an excellent addition to the franchise.
While a potential Chapter 5 will be a long way off, the John Wick franchise isn’t slowing down its action any time soon. Spin-off film Ballerina is currently in post-production and aiming for a 2024 spring or summer release, according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair, Joe Drake. Spin-off series The Continental is aiming for a fall premiere, with Drake saying the episodes are almost complete.
