On March 26, Marvel revealed some of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday with a lengthy livestream that showed the names of the actors on the back of Director’s Chairs. The livestream ends with Robert Downey Jr., who has already been confirmed as the MCU’s Doctor Doom, sitting in his chair and putting a finger to his lips in a shushing motion. Then he gestures to the long row of chairs and walks off-screen.
The livestream revealed 26 actors including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Florence Pugh as Yelena. Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing, and Kelsey Grammar’s Beast join the cast. Lewis Pullman, who was cast in Thunderbolts as Bob plays the Sentry, hinting toward a character arc in the preceding film.

Rounding out the cast are Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Davi Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Notable exceptions to the cast list include Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, and even the Young Avengers like Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel. Hawkeye is conspicuously absent along with Monica, Wanda, and Doctor Strange, the only MCU characters to encounter the X-Men, aside from Deadpool. The entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy is absent as well. However the cast list, while long, is far from exhaustive. Both Marvel and Downey Jr. have teased there are more announcements to come, so some of these absences may be short-lived.
