Stig Asmussen, Director Of 'Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,' Is Eager To Make The Popular Games A Trilogy
There are only a little less than two months left before the next installment in Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor. The first game, dubbed Star Wars Dark Souls by some, has been very successful. Now, even before the release of the second game in the series, there is talk of a third game to follow to make it a trilogy.
In a recent interview with IGN Unfiltered, the director for the game, Stig Asmussen, expressed his desire to make the series into a trilogy:
“We were already talking about the second game. I mean, frankly, we were talking beyond…I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?”

Asmussen also discussed a shift to using Unreal Engine 5 if they were to do a third game. Both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor are running on Unreal Engine 4, but studios are starting to switch to the 5th generation of the engine to take advantage of its breathtaking visuals. He explained that it would be difficult because they would have to retool proprietary things that they have brought into the game into the new engine.
This is, of course, speculation, as the new game has to sell well. However, with all hype and excitement for Jedi: Survivor, it is within the realm of possibility. A third game could easily be several years out, but with Unreal Engine 5 games just starting to release, there is time for the switch to happen.
Sales of Jedi: Survivor will likely be the ultimate determinant of whether the series becomes a trilogy. Fans will have to wait to see how the launch goes on April 28th.
