Steven Knight Replaces Damon Lindelof And Justin Britt-Gibson As Writer For Upcoming 'Star Wars' Movie

As the Star Wars Celebration quickly approaches, Variety revealed a change in staff for an upcoming Star Wars film set after The Rise of Skywalker. Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, replaces Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson as the screenwriter for the untitled film.
Knight’s career began in 2002 with the crime drama Dirty Pretty Things before diversifying his portfolio with The Hundred-Foot Journey, Allied, and Spencer. The previous screenwriter Lindelof, who co-created the Lost series and The Watchman, was responsible for bringing Britt-Gibson into the Star Wars project before the pair departed the project.

Details for the new project are very limited although Disney has already announced a Star Wars film releasing on December 19, 2025. Other Star Wars projects in the works include a Taika Watiti-led film and a possible movie by Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy. Notably, Levy and Knight are currently working together on Netflix’s All the Light We Cannot See series.
More information about these projects will likely be announced when the Star Wars Celebration comes to London from April 7 to April 10 as fans around the world tune in to learn about future movies and series set in a galaxy far, far away.
