'Starfield' Gets A Release Date
Microsoft hit the ground running with their E3 event this year. This time, the stage was shared between them and Bethesda, which Microsoft purchased last year. This was also a really big conference for Microsoft since it is the first E3 since the launch of the Xbox Series X/S and since their purchase of Bethesda. Fans were excited to see what could come from this pairing, and they didn’t disappoint. Since Bethesda announced Starfield years ago, fans have been excited to get more information about this new IP, which a lot of people assumed was "Elder Scrolls in space." While we didn’t get a ton of new information, we did get some big reveals for the game.
Todd Howard talked about Starfield and how it was Bethesda’s first new franchise in 25 years, but he said it was something the developers had been thinking about for a long time. Then he rolled a trailer for the game, and at the end of the trailer, they revealed the release date of the game: November 11, 2022. This was huge news to anyone who has been dying for information on the game because it is coming far sooner than most people expected. The surprises didn’t stop there because, immediately after the release date, it was revealed that Starfield would be an Xbox exclusive.
While this may be unfortunate news for Playstation fans, this is a much-needed exclusive for Xbox Series X/S owners who have been hard-pressed to find games for their new console. Todd Howard described the games as being part of “the last group of space explorers.” It is supposed to be a “next generation role-playing game.” This would seem to confirm rumors of the game bringing the classic, immersive, role-playing games Bethesda is known for to space. With the game releasing next year, fans can rest assured that they will find more information about it and see some gameplay soon.
