Square Enix Reveals ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Game

Square Enix's E3 event was full of surprises, both good and bad. While some fans may have been disappointed with the lack of news on Final Fantasy VII: Remake Part 2 and Final Fantasy XVI, there were plenty of other reveals and announcements to keep fans excited. There was no shortage of Marvel news at the event, and one of the biggest surprises came when Eidos-Montreal revealed their Guardians of the Galaxy game.

It seemed like the game was developed almost completely in secrecy, but it was actually leaked back in 2017. Since then, however, there had been complete silence on the game until now. The reveal happened not too long into Square Enix's event. Not did we get to see the trailer, but they also showed example of gameplay, the main villain, player choices, and last but certainly not least, the release date. The game is coming sooner than anyone would have expected. It will hit PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 26, 2021. This is absolutely massive news because seeing a game reveal at E3 and getting a release date the same year is almost unheard of nowadays!

The game will put players in the role of Star Lord, and will be tasked with earning the role of leader amongst the Guardians. They achieve this by calling shots for the team during combat and making the final call on tough choices in the story. The combat is fast paced, and each guardian will have their own unique abilities. Even though the player will only be playing as Peter Quill, they will be able to control the rest of the team to add a layer of strategy to the combat. While the Guardian movies were incredibly popular, the game is not an adaptation of the movies. It will provide its own unique take on the crew while drawing heavy influences from the comics for its story and art style. The crazy fun ride with the Guardians of the Galaxy is not too far away!
