'Star Wars' Revives Two Dead Jedi In Latest Comic Issue

The Star Wars comics have brought back Jedi in potentially the largest revival yet. This occurred in Star Wars: Doctor Aphra issue 32; heads up, there will be spoilers for the comic. Jedi Masters Aayla Secura and Shaak Ti have made a return from the supposed grave, appearing in the comic with a distinct lack of a blue Force ghost tint. They are featured towards the end of the comic, facing down intruders in real time

There are several explanations for this appearance, one of the most notable being the loopholes surrounding their assumed Order 66 deaths. Aayla’s fate at the end of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was obscured; while the clone troopers she commanded turned on her to fire, her body was never shown, and the hits from the blaster fire couldn’t be determined. She may have survived the assault.

Shaak Ti’s death wasn’t shown on camera either; as she was in the Temple on Coruscant, it could be assumed she perished during the siege. With nothing visually confirmed either, she could have reasonably escaped. The alternatives could range from time travel, memory projections, and physical projections hosted in a separate location, all possible and already canon explanations for their return.

Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra is the center of an ongoing namesake comic series written by Alyssa Wong with art by Marika Cresta. This specific run is set between Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
