'Star Wars' Reveals First Look At 'The Book of Boba Fett' In Official Images
With roughly two and a half months before its premiere on Disney+ on December 29th, Disney and Lucasfilm have started the hype-machine for The Book of Boba Fett, the company’s big live-action endeavor of 2021 (after The Bad Batch in the spring and Visions in the fall). Like last years “Mando Mondays” October kicked-off a global marketing campaign called “Bring Home the Bounty”, that will see new product releases every week until the end of the year, including toys, books, comics and apparel.
While last year’s campaign was mainly focused on Din Djarin and the cutest youngling in the galaxy, “Bring Home the Bounty” includes marketing material from past, current and future projects of Lucasfilm, like the saga films, The Bad Batch series, of course Grogu and the Mandalorian, and, as a new entry in the Star Wars universe, The Book of Boba Fett.
Like the recently released promo-poster for the new series, the artwork for "Bring Home the Bounty" offers another glimpse at the notorious man wearing Mandalorian armor. The poster very much mimicked the end of the post-credit scene from Season 2 of The Mandalorian, with Boba sitting on the throne in Jabba’s Palace, having taken the place of the oh-so-suddenly deceased Bib Fortuna. While Fett’s pose was similar to the one from the series, the poster also showed some changes to the look of the bounty hunter.

When Din Djarin acquired Boba’s armor from Cobb Vanth in the first episode of Season 2, it was in rather bad condition. Even more than when we had last seen it, the moment Fett fell into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi. Later on, after Djarin had given the armor back to its rightful owner in the episode The Tragedy, Fett did a pretty good job of restoring it to its former glory with mint paint and no wear and tear, leaving only the small dent on the right side of the helmet as an indication that the armor was not completely new.
But now both the poster and the artwork for "Bring Home the Bounty" show a different look Boba Fett again, giving a clear indication that the latter is actually from The Book of Boba Fett and not from The Mandalorian: There is a clearly visible scratch on the helmet and the crisp paint is gone again. Also the colors themselves appear to be lighter and more worn or washed-out. The scarf around Fett’s neck is much less pronounced than in The Mandalorian, where it was a hood, used to provide a big reveal of Fett’s return into the Star Wars galaxy.
Without a trailer or any official announcement from Lucasfilm on the content of the series, there is little information on when in the Star Wars timeline the series will take place. It seems a given that at least major parts will take place either concurrent with, or after the events of Season 2 of The Mandalorian, but there are constant rumors that fans will also get to see flashback scenes explaining how Fett escaped the Sarlacc, how he lost his armor (and how Vanth acquired it), so maybe Fett’s “new” (or rather used) look doesn’t come from his adventures after he met Din Djarin and Grogu, but rather before that.
With the end of October approaching fans surely don’t have to wait that much longer until the marketing push for The Book of Boba Fett kicks into high gear. A trailer release is imminent, followed by various TV-commercials that roll right into the series premiere shortly before year’s end. And of course, no big Star Wars release would be compete without a dedicated issue of Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm’s long-time magazine partner, that provides an onslaught of high quality behind-the-scenes pictures and a ton of information on the new series, without giving away any major plot points.
Beside from that, it surely is a good idea to keep an eye on the weekly releases and announcements of "Bring Home the Bounty". It would not be the first time, that a toy or a kid’s book would reveal a completely new character, a vehicle or a least a name.
