'Star Wars' Reveals Darth Vader's Alternate Reality

Everyone knows how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader in the Star Wars saga, and howthe Dark Lord of the Sith turns out in the end, but not every fan knows what happened between Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. However, in the comic series from Marvel, we have been seeing the journey of the Sith Lord between these movies.

Previous issues of Greg Pak's current ongoing Darth Vader series show Darth Vader mourning his wife Padme Amidala, and his first interactions with the Eye of the Webbish Bog. But in issue 10, we have a bit more about Vader’s journey to Exegol and the secrets, where he is trying to learn more secrets.

As we have said previously, issue 11, which is going to be released in April, will show more of Darth Vader's visit on the planet Exegol, a place that appears in Episode IX - The Rise of the Skywalker. But in the tenth issue, which was released on February 10, we can see how Darth Vader suffers through visions of alternates realities that are different from what we are used to seeing in the movies.

In this tenth issue of the comic series, Vader experiences some flashbacks to his duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet of Mustafar in Episode III - Revenge of the Sith where he lost parts of his body, and also Cloud City duel with Luke in Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and the famous phrase: “I am your father,” only this time with a different end.

We see how the battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi is an unforgettable moment in his life still. The alternate version of the fight with his son Luke in the Cloud City, however, results in Vader's son cutting off his hand and killing him, leaving his dead body and walking to join to the side of the Emperor to rule the Galaxy. We then return to reality, with Vader on Exegol.

The trip to Exegol is supposed to reveal more about the secrets of the Emperor, which Vader can use to gain some power over him. But this issue is something fans never saw on the movies. The vision of Darth Vader dying by the hand of his son Luke clarifies the impact on the Sith Lord prior to Return of the Jedi, and why he helped Luke to destroy the Emperor and defeat the Empire.

As the series continues, we hope we can saw the big picture of the journey of Darth Vader until his redemption in Return of the Jedi. We also hope that these comics show us how the Emperor survives for so many years after his death via the planet Exegol.

Darth Vader is one of the most evil characters in the entire history of the cinema, but with these comics, we catch glimpses of why he returns the balance to the Force and helps to destroy the evil Empire. Even in these alternate realities, the Force is strong in the Skywalker family, and maybe that’s why the Emperor wants both Vader and Luke on the dark side. Even though the Emperor survives on Exegol, his granddaughter Rey ends up killing him and bringing hope to the galaxy, bringing back the balance as Anakin Skywalker did.
