The Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at New York Comic Con 2024 has just wrapped up! The presentation included new information on a range of upcoming projects and intriguing visuals for The High Republic’s final wave of content before it revealed one final comic-based announcement.

The core of the presentation was The High Republic, where covers, internal pages, and concept art for various comics or stories were shown. A Valiant Vow and Into the Light, the middle-grade and young adult novels for Wave 3, each received their cover art, while the young adult novel featuring Yord and Jecki from The Acolyte, revealed at SDCC earlier this year, received both a title, The Crystal Crown, and official cover art.

Next, two stories for the upcoming The High Republic Adventures Phase III Annual had some of their elements detailed. One, written by Zoraida Córdova, confirmed a previously announced focus on Churo the Hutt from Beware the Nameless, though with the new information that he was seeking out a unique plant to help his homeworld of Nal Hutta survive the aftereffects of the Drengir’s attack from recent years. The other entry with more information was Charles and Rosemary Soule’s comic story, which focuses on the three Younglings from the Jedi Brave in Every Way. Looking to attend the movies, things go wrong for these three young Jedi. This story should be fascinating, giving us our first canon look at how viewing films works in the Star Wars galaxy.

Other High Republic announcements include artwork showing several important characters in robes and armor highly evocative of the Jedi Temple Guards, first seen in The Clone Wars Season 5, who have since appeared in other shows like Rebels and at certain points in The High Republic publishing initiative. Further artwork includes a dramatic piece promoting Tempest Breaker, the audio drama that will be released this December, and covers art for Issue #2 of The High Republic (2025), also featuring Lourna Dee. Lastly, we will be getting more Star Wars Insider High Republic short stories from Lydia Kang, who is currently on a short break as Alyssa Wong temporarily takes the reins.

The final note of the presentation was the reveal of a brand new Marvel comic, Star Wars: Jedi Knights. It will be written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Madibek Musabekov, both of whom have been recently active in the Star Wars space. Jedi Knights is set to focus on a range of Jedi characters in the time before The Phantom Menace, with individual stories offering a focus on particular figures, both old and newly created for the comic. This ongoing series will not be episodic, though, as an overarching plot about a mysterious villain targeting Qui-Gon Jinn will also feature in the comic. Jedi Knights begins in March 2025!
