EA has announced that Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, the sequel to the popular Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will soon be released to previous generation consoles, specifically PS4 and Xbox One. This announcement may come as a surprise to gamers who remember the game director, Stig Asmussen’s explanation for concentrating on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the initial launch of the game, as the team wanted to concentrate on creating a “true new-gen experience in the Star Wars universe.” Expected steps in this process will likely require Respawn to accommodate older hardware by lowering resolution as well as framerate limits.

Electronic Arts held a financial briefing on August 1 where the game publisher announced that Respawn is “in early stages of development” on making Star Wars: Jedi Survivor compatible with PS4 and Xbox One ports. There have been reports of issues since the April launch of the game experiencing performance issues. The primary concerns according to Kotaku include framerate drops and in-game stuttering. While updates have helped, the issues are yet to have been resolved completely. The publisher offered reassurance that their current next-gen consoles are still the company’s “top priority.” Additionally, Respawn is aware of the continued performance issues and has promised to share improvements with gamers “as soon as the next update is ready.”
