Coming soon from Star Wars and Zen Studios is possibly the most innovative, mind-blowing experience for Jedi and Sith cliques out there in the whole wide universe since the Resistance brought down the First Order in The Rise of Skywalker! And we present to you… STAR WARS PINBALL VR!!!

Zen Studios recently announced on The Pinball Show that the long-running Star Wars Pinball is coming to virtual reality for the first time ever. This is an exciting time for all gamers out there to experience something new in the gaming side of Star Wars. Star Wars Pinball VR will be available on Oculus Quest 1 & 2, Steam VR, and PlayStation VR on April 29 — in time for the annual May the 4th Star Wars fan holiday.

Star Wars Pinball VR is set to launch with eight tables: the brand-new The Mandalorian and Star Wars Classic Collectibles tables, along with six remastered favorites, including Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Rebels, and Masters of the Force.

Star Wars Pinball VR will have special modifications that take advantage of the virtual reality experience such as

  • The action occurs in a customizable “fan cave,” which houses your in-game pinball table as well as many Star Wars helmets, lightsabers, and other items earned through successful play.

  • Turn on the pinball table and the room comes to life — not only with a new table to play but also with life-sized characters and vehicles joining you on either side.

  • Total Immersion mode allows you to experience everything at table level, and fully 360-degree minigames surround you with iconic Star Wars set pieces.

In addition to the awesome virtual pinball, Lucasfilm Games, in association with Ubisoft, will be coming out with some new Star Wars gaming content in the future.

“We’ve got a lot of stuff we’re ready to start sharing with fans,” Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly tells StarWars.com, “because we’ve been working quietly behind the scenes for a while now, waiting for this moment.”

With the new direction and era for Star Wars and Lucasfilm gaming overall that Reilly was referencing, Lucasfilm Games is expanding and adding new developers for the upcoming projects.

“We’re looking to work with best-in-class teams that can make great games across all of our IP. We’ve got a team of professionals here at Lucasfilm Games who can work with the developers, shape the stories, shape the creative, shape the games, to make them really resonate with fans and deliver across a breadth of platforms, genres, and experiences so that all of our fans can enjoy the IPs that they know and love,” he says.

“We know that fans of Star Wars value the feeling of immersion — of being transported into the Star Wars galaxy and moving through richly-detailed environments. It’s fun to imagine what the team at Massive can do within Star Wars by bringing their innovative spirit and their commitment to quality,” Reilly says.

As for familiar Star Wars games, some are sticking around. Continuing the relationship with Electronic Arts that resulted in the hugely popular rebooted Star Wars: Battlefront series, the critically-acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and multiplayer Star Wars: Squadrons, the legendary gaming company will continue to play a pivotal role in Star Wars future of gaming for at least a little while.

“We’re really proud of the games we have created with EA,” Reilly says. “We will continue working with them and our relationship has never been stronger. While we may not have a lot of details to share at the moment, we’ve got a number of projects underway with the talented teams at EA.”

Star Wars Pinball VR will be available on Oculus Quest 1 & 2, Steam VR, and PlayStation VR on April 29.
