'Star Wars Andor' Season 1 Finale Will Be The Second Longest Season Finale For A Disney+ 'Star Wars' Property

Released September 21st of this year, Star Wars: Andor is reaching its season finale. Though the season finale is already newsworthy, what might this finale more noteworthy is how long the finale is set for. According to The Direct, “Andor Season 1's finale is reportedly 54 minutes and 11 seconds…making it the longest episode of the season.” With such a large chunk of time dedicated to a finale, many things are going to be subject to setup. The ending of the first season has promised to further establish the events that will become Rogue One. This may include more character development for its lead Cassian.

Writer Maneesha Jaswal from Screen Rant details how the season finale is something “to look forward to.” A theory present is the possibility of Cassian returning to honor a loved one while also freeing his friends from the Empire considering his former home is currently under Imperial rule. This might result in a battle comparable to that of Kenobi’s and Darth Vader’s confrontation in their respective finale between Cassian and Ferris (or the Empire).

Andor’s season finale is already being compared to the finales of other Disney+ shows. In the realm of live-action Star Wars shows, The Mandalorian Season 1 - Chapter 8 and Obi-Wan Kenobi clock in at 49 minutes while Mandalorian Season 2 - Chapter 16 almost matches it at 46 minutes. In addition, The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 7 perfectly reaches the one-hour mark. With such a long run time, Andor aims to “do Cassian justice as it provides him an avenue to be fleshed out” and provides a strong foundation for future seasons to come. Nonetheless, fans will just have to wait until Wednesday, November 23rd, at midnight Pacific Standard Time/3 AM Eastern Standard Time to see what decisions lead Cassian to the fateful Rogue One.
