‘Star Wars: Andor’ Confirmed To Have A Two-Episode Premiere

Andor has been one of fans’ most anticipated Disney Plus Star Wars shows since its announcement a few years ago. Fans have been breaking down every promo for the show in hopes of uncovering any morsel of information they can about the show.

It looks like the wait will be well worth it. The official Star Wars Twitter account announced this week that Andor’s debut on Aug. 31 now includes the first two episodes. Season 1 of Andor is slated for 12 episodes, the most of any live-action Disney+ Star Wars show; Season 1 of the animated show The Bad Batch, which will have its second season run concurrently with Andor after its Sept. 28 premiere, featured 16 episodes.

Andor debuting with two episodes follows Obi-Wan Kenobi’s trend when it debuted on May 27th. In addition to two episodes, fans got the third episode just five days later, on June 1. Andor debuts on a Wednesday, though, and it will follow the same weekly pattern as most other Star Wars and Marvel shows.

Andor is a prequel to the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and tells more of Cassian Andor’s backstory. Diego Luna is reprising his role as the titular character, and Genevieve O’Reilly is returning as Mon Mothma, an essential character in the rebellion’s earliest days. The show will run for three seasons as it leads up to the film’s events.
