'Star Trek: Section 31' Cast Talking Working In The 'Star Trek' Franchise And Working With Michelle Yeoh

Recently, during the San Diego Comic-Con, Sam Richardson, Omari Hardwick, and Kasey Rohl sat down with the Variety Studio to discuss the upcoming Star Trek: Section 31, which will be a straight-to-streaming film on Paramount+. The show is helmed by executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who also took part in the interview.
Michelle Yeoh leads the cast in the film as Phillippa Georgiou from the series Star Trek: Discovery. The show will follow Georgiou as she works in a secret division of Starfleet which must protect the United Federation of Planets called Section 31.

The cast took a few minutes to discuss the film and how it will stand apart from other canonical works within the Star Trek universe. Sam Richardson explained, “The movie is a lot of things. It’s action, drama, comedy, it’s equal parts of all of that…everybody’s funny in it, and everybody’s serious and the stakes are there for everybody.
As to how the cast felt to become a part of the Star Trek universe, executive producer Alex Kurtzman said, “That was the most amazing part. You look around and saw somebody from almost every cast, and you just felt the weight of the legacy and the connection between everybody…the feeling of seeing multiple generations of actors coming together for their own unique reason, connecting over what it means to be in this franchise.
