Ever since it first came out in 2021, the mega-hit South Korean show Squid Game captured the audience’s imagination and attention. With a fascinating premise, good storytelling, and excellent acting, it instantly became part of the cultural zeitgeist. Both Netflix itself and mega YouTuber Mr. Beast created their own, slightly less fatal versions, with the latter garnering over 640 million views on YouTube.

So one or two people liked the whole thing well enough.

With the cliffhanger ending of the first season, fans instantly wanted a season 2, and for years a second season was confirmed, but no indication was given as to when. That’s all recently changed. It has recently been announced that we will be getting more Squid Games on December 26th of this year. Boxing Day for many people. It’s a nice late Christmas present from the folks at Netflix.

What’s even better, a third season has also been confirmed, with it also being announced that it will be the final one. While we all want more Squid Game, it’s nice to know that they’re just going to tell their story and not drag things along.

Netflix also released the teaser trailer for the season.
