Nintendo Profits Take A Tumble As Sales Down During Wait For Switch 2
Nintendo’s profits have been down more than half, as the gaming giant is expected to reveal the successor to the Switch. In the first quarter 2025 fiscal year report, Nintendo was said to have only sold about 2.1 million Switches from April 1 to June 30, a 46% decrease. Revenue was reported to be 246.6 billion yen, a decrease from the forecasted 289.61 billion, but the income was reported at 80.9 billion yen, an increase from the projected 70.73 billion. As people are waiting on the new console, profits for the Switch have been impacted for the worse.
Nintendo has previously said that the successor to the Switch will be announced sometime this fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31, and while Nintendo hasn’t broken its promise, they have yet to reveal any news. The Nintendo Direct back in June did not talk about the successor to the Switch, and no one knows when the time will come. Nintendo’s current strategy is to continue to provide software for the Switch, and marketing for their hardware. Though the next big thing might be on the horizon, this isn’t entirely the end of the Switch, but we’ll keep waiting.
