Sony's Chairman Provides A Promising Update For 'Spider-Man 4'
While the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home left the public with a sad ending to a good trilogy, there is more to come from the famous web-slinger. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Rothman, CEO of the Sony Motion Pictures Group, confirmed that Spider-Man will be back for a fourth installment of the series.
The interview served as a moment for Rothman to recall Sony’s work throughout the year. He talked about the live-action adaptation of the hit video game series Uncharted (which also starred Tom Holland) and the upcoming release of Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Although Rothman does not talk much about the future of Spider-Man itself, his word were promising.

When mentioning the important work of Sanford Panitch, the president of the motion picture group, Rothman highlights the importance of Spider-Man IP for Sony. Besides other projects like Spider-Man: Into the Multiverse (2018) and Venom, the success of Holland’s Spider-Man was extremely beneficial to Sony. According to Rothman, another movie is a guarantee, but there is no date for it: “You bet (...) When you can expect it, I don’t know. Serve no wine before it’s time.”
Even though another movie in the series would be really good, the plot may take some time. At the end of No Way Home Peter Parker lost his dear aunt May to the Green Goblin, and nobody remembers him from previous adventures; his friends nor the Avengers. He was able to connect with other versions of Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield's and Tobey Maguire’s), but this could lead him to even more problems than solutions.
