Sony released its trailer for the newest Spider-Man animation, titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Along with the trailer, a synopsis was published, explaining a few things that were seen from the short clip. It is possible to see characters from the previous movie, like Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Spider-Gwen. But another one calls for more attention. It shows an exciting version of everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood hero. Besides that, lots of other versions of the hero are seen in their version of a “world between worlds.” Here’s the description per Heroic Hollywood:

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”

From the trailer, the public can quickly identify the so-called “new threat” as one specific version of Spider-Man: Spider-Man 2099. First published in 1992, this version has Miguel O’Hara as the protagonist. His DNA was combined with a spider’s after trying to replicate the abilities of the original Spidey. He already showed up on the post-credit scene of 2018’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse as having a device that allows him to jump to other universes. In the 2023 movie, though, he is seen chasing Miles and Gwen with - apparently - the help of other versions of Spidey, mainly one that rides a motorcycle.

Shameik Moore continues as the voice of Miles Morales, along with others such as Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen Stacy), Oscar Isaac (Miguel O’Hara), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker), and Luna Lauren Velez (Rio Morales). The movie is set to premiere on June 2nd, 2023.
