It seems that streaming services are the way of the future and that every major media company has one. It appears that Sony is jumping on the streaming bandwagon, as they have announced that they are launching their new movie app, Sony Pictures Core. It will also rebrand its movie service, Bravia, to Sony Pictures Core next year.

The service will allow PlayStation users to buy or rent up to 2,000 movies straight from their console. At launch, the service will have blockbuster hits like Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, among others. Sony has a licensing deal with other streaming services, so don’t expect these titles to be exclusive to Sony Pictures Core.

The new app will let users purchase select Sony Pictures films in various markets during an exclusive, early access window. PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe members will get access to a curated catalog of up to 100 movies through the service to stream on-demand, as part of the membership. The movies will be ad-free, and there will also be additional benefits for PlayStation Plus members.

Sony Pictures Core is available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It’s available in 23 markets across the globe.
