Sony Has Released A New Image From 'Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse', Teases Trailer Is Imminent

It’s been a long road getting to Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, the sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Announced in November 2019 for an April 2022 release, then delayed to October 2022 early in the pandemic, and June 2023 around its original release date. Now, June 2023 is 6 months away. With other June releases like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts releasing its teaser trailer earlier this week, it seems even Sony knows it’s time for the marketing to pick back up again, a year after the first look was released.
On Saturday, December 3, the film’s official Twitter account tweeted a new image from the film, featuring Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy hanging and looking over New York City. The tweet came with a promise: “A new view from across the #SpiderVerse coming 12.13”. Though another look was plausible, whether entirely of the film or behind the scenes, producer Chris Miller did confirm it would be a trailer.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’s ambition has been well-documented, with the film’s most significant showcase occurring at CinemaCon. Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk join the returning Shameik Moore as Miles, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, presumably Jake Johnson as Peter, and a more prominent Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) in the film. It is scheduled for release on June 2, 2023. It is Sony Pictures Animation’s first theatrical film since The Angry Birds Movie 2 in 2019. A third film, Beyond The Spider-Verse, is scheduled for March 29, 2024.
