The earliest days of PlayStation 5 sales were marked with instant sellouts followed by desperate attempts to track down the new generation console. As a result, some people resorted to buying scalped consoles. However, according to Sony representative Jim Ryan, the shortage has finally passed.

The shortage was caused by a lack of processing chips needed to build the consoles. This led to a stop in manufacturing, leading to a mad dash for the console. Last month, however, sales shot up, and the PS5 passed the 30 million milestone. With this milestone, Sony declared the shortage over, and the company’s executive Veronica Rogers promised a boost in the production of the home console.
