Sonic Frontiers continues to have content produced for it, and the next update is reportedly going to revive a move last seen in 2013’s Sonic Lost World: Sonic’s classic spin-dash. The move is set to be included in the update celebrating Sonic’s birthday. This update has no exact date, but it will be coming sometime this year. According to Kishimoto, the move was actually meant to be included in the first update, but according to Kishimoto, the team needed a bit more time to refine the move, as stated in a tweet Kishimoto posted in response to this information being leaked.

The tweet roughly translates as:
"Oh my God, you found out!! Actually, we tried to include it in the first update, but we decided that it didn't meet everyone's expectations, so we're improving the degree of perfection for the second update. I'm telling you because I found out, but it's okay to have expectations!”
