'Sonic Frontiers' Takes The Award For Most Anticipated Game At Tokyo Games Show
Sonic Frontiers has accomplished a landmark feat for the franchise. On the last day of the Tokyo Games Show, Sonic Frontiers won in the Japan Games Awards’ Future Division. This is an award given to the most anticipated game shown off at the Tokyo Games Show, and it is the first time a Sonic game has won this award. Morio Kishimoto, the scriptwriter for the Japanese version of the game, had this to say upon picking up the award:
“Thank you very much for this wonderful award, the first for a Sonic game. I am very happy that Sonic, a game series that is well known in the West but not so well known in Japan, has received this kind of attention in Japan even before the game's release. I believe that this award is the first step towards a great achievement for all the staff involved in this project, including the development members of the Sonic Team who completed this game. Thank you very much for your time today.”
The game has been mostly positively received at the show, with even Masahiro Sakurai of Kirby and Smash Brothers fame praising the title. The other titles that won this award this year include A Space for the Unbound, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Exoprimal, Street Fighter 6, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, and Final Fantasy XVI. Sonic Frontiers speeds onto all major platforms on November 8th of this year and is currently available for pre-order.
