Watch out, folks. There will be some flying sharks coming your way soon. The movie saga, which was first launched in 2013, is entering its tenth anniversary. The movie initially premiered on the SyFy Channel, and it now it is going to be shown at some cinemas on the 15th and 16th of August. So, a good opportunity has presented itself for fans of this interesting franchise to watch sharks fly around in tornados, but this time on the silver screen.

The Hollywood Reporter published an exclusive view of the event’s poster. The Asylum - the people behind Sharknado - are relying on the recent success of Barbie and its fun, hot pink aesthetics to promote the re-release. The poster not only features sharks flying around but also shark-shaped, inflatable ones as well. And the two people shown on the poster are non-other than Barbie and Ken driving a pink convertible while he holds a chainsaw. Amazing choice for a poster. Even if this re-mastered version does not have Mattel’s support to do this kind of promotion, it seems like they are swinging for the fences.

Sharknado is far from being a special effects wonder or a well-written drama from a famous novel. But it succeeds where many other similar movies have failed before. It captured the attention of the public while putting together two very different parts of nature, sharks, and tornados. The new motto shown in the trailer gives a good idea of what the idea behind this re-release is: More sharks, more ‘nado. The movie is going to include 100 never-seen-before seconds of special effects and kills. Take a look below to refresh your memory on the marvelous absurdity that is Sharknado:

The Sharknado movie saga features Tara Reid (April Wexler) and Ian Ziering (Fin Shepard) as the main characters, with John Heard (George), Cassandra Scerbo (Nova Clark), and Jaason Simmons (Baz Hogan) as secondary characters. The saga contains seven movies, and it gets more interesting with each new title. So, a throwback should be good to remember the good old times.
