Joining the group of games announced or already released games featuring Marvel properties, including Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers, and an espionage-thriller game featuring both Black Panther and Captain America, Shadow of Mordor game developers have recently announced a single-player Black Panther game. There are scant details at this early stage of development, and there is still a “long road ahead” for the development of the game. However, the developer, Cliffhanger Games, promises:

“A definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich superhero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.”

Rumors of the game’s development date back a year, when it was reported that EA, the upcoming game’s publisher, was working on a game that would achieve their goal of building upon the success of Respawn’s 2019 hit Star Wars game Jedi: Fallen Order. While it is unknown whether or not the developers intend for the upcoming Black Panther game to surpass Jedi: Fallen Order in terms of the game’s story or its open-world-style gameplay, fans of Black Panther should look forward to having the opportunity to play in that “superhero sandbox” of Wakanda as promised by its developers.
