More Scarlet Witch is on the way. In September Marvel announced a fresh new Scarlet Witch run by writer Steve Orlando (Marauders, Batman) in collaboration with artist Sara Pichelli (Spider-Man), Matt Wilson, and Russell Dauterman.

In this new story, Wanda is haunted by the sins of her past and goes through a redemption arc in which she will use her powers to help others while running a magic shop that will only be seen by those who need it most. Her new bewitching adventure will begin when a mysterious woman will approach her with the tale of a town affected by a mysterious curse. This new run will also be exploring Wanda’s day-to-day life and will dive into her relationships with Quicksilver, Vision, Polaris, her adopted sister, and the newcomer, Darcy Lewis.

Yes, you read it well! Darcy Lewis’ character, who has been portrayed by Kat Dennings in the MCU since her first appearance in Thor, is now making her comic book debut in Orlando’s Scarlet Witch. In a recent interview with Polygon, Orlando explained that Lewis’ character in the comics will be very similar to what we’ve seen in Wandavision, “Darcy’s there to lightly chide the absurdities we love of comic books, especially in a character like Thor.” said Orlando. “Darcy essentially gives a voice to the audience in the same way that Kat Dennings’ character does.”

Finally, for this new iteration of the Scarlet Witch, Dauterman has designed an all-new costume that draws on past iterations of the character to create this new design, “There are elements in there from her classic design, the MCU, the Kevin Wada design, and her Force Works costumes,” he said. “The rings were inspired by the jewelry she wore in her George Pérez look. The moon motif is inspired by her ’90s-era costume, some of her recent storylines, and a line from the VISION AND THE SCARLET WITCH miniseries.” For Dauterman, the addition of a starry effect on Wanda’s skirt and hair, when she goes into Scarlet Witch mode, is a new way to emphasize her supernatural side. He also designed her costume to simplify its incorporation within different settings and also to simplify its reproduction for future artists that will work with Marvel.
