Prime Video Orders Multiple Sony ‘Spider-Man’ Projects Starting With “Silk: Spider Society”
There’s no denying we’re in a great age for Spider-Man content. With No Way Home coming out as such a big hit last year, and an Into The Spider-Verse sequel coming out soon, the franchise is certainly healthy. Now other Spider-people are getting their shot, with Silk: Spider Society coming up first.
The series (which, as of now, doesn’t have a release date) will premiere on MGM+ and then come to Amazon Prime Video. Angela Kang, who was the executive producer for The Walking Dead will be the showrunner, with help from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who worked on Into The Spider-Verse as well as Amy Pascal, who worked on related material such as the two Venom movies.

The series will focus on the character of Korean-American woman Cindy Moon. Cindy gets her powers by being bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker and will, according to the showrunners, use those powers to escape imprisonment and search for her missing family. She has many of the same powers as Parker, including spider-sense and enhanced physical abilities. She was created by writers Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.
The series will be in live-action, with Kang, Lord, Miller and Pascal all having stated their excitement for the series in interviews. Sony currently holds the rights to over 900 characters associated with the Spider-Man franchise, giving plenty of potential for other characters appearing in this series, as well as future projects.
