'Saw X' Promises To Be As Brutal As The Rest Of The Franchise

Tobin Bell as John Kramer

After the 2021 spinoff, Spiral, a tenth film was announced for the Saw franchise, Saw X. It is set between the Saw and Saw II films, and deals with John Kramer (Tobin Bell) going to Mexico to try to find a Hail Mary cure for his terminal cancer, only to find that it’s all a scam. From there… let the games begin.

The tenth film was never going to be neutered like a lot of other horror films. Several remakes and sequels over the years, the Prom Night remake, for example, had a lot of the violence toned down to get a PG-13 rating, allowing more people to see the film and increasing box office returns. Saw X will not be following that trend. It would probably lose a lot of money if it went that route. Taking the violence and gore out of a Saw film would be like taking cars out of a Fast and Furious movie. It’s one of the central draws.

As with the rest of the sequels, the kills promise to be bloodier and more extreme than the last film. The return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw will be a great boon to the franchise, especially since the movie will be set in a time when he is still alive, as opposed to flashbacks throughout the series after Saw III.

Saw X is due to be released in theaters on September 29th.
