SAG-AFTRA Lays Out Rules For Halloween Costumes Including Banning 'Barbie'
The Actor’s Strike continues, and its influence is spreading to the member’s personal lives. The Actor’s Guild has laid out rules for its members to follow this upcoming Halloween.
The rules state members of the Guild are not allowed to dress as any character from struck content. This includes costumes of the most popular costumes for the year, like Barbie, Spider-Man, or Wednesday Addams. Instead, they are encouraged to dress as generic creatures and figures, such as spiders, ghosts, and zombies. This statement has created diverse opinions from actors and actresses online.

Mandy Moore voiced her opinion via Instagram stories. “Is this a joke?” she started, “Come on @sagaftra. This is what’s important? We’re asking you to negotiate in good faith on our behalf. So many folks across every aspect of this industry have been sacrificing mightily for months. Get back to the table and get a fair deal so everyone can get back to work.”
The SAG-AFTRA strike is surpassing the 100th-day mark and they show off their commitment to their members with this kind of rule. Regardless of opinion, this is about sending a message, of maintaining their integrity and fighting together no matter what; all in good faith of doing what is right and fair for everyone.
