Rihanna's New Song For 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' Titled 'Lift Me Up' Will Release On Friday

Marvel Studios announced Rihanna is releasing a new song entitled “Lift Me Up” for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Like the film, the music was composed as a tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman. The song will drop on Friday, October 28, two weeks before the movie premieres in theaters on November 11. Very little information is available about the piece. However, Rihanna has posted a brief snippet of the song on her Twitter.
Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler wrote the song. According to Variety, Tems released a statement about the song’s inspiration:
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”
Marvel Studios further states that the song “ushers in the next era of Rihanna’s iconic career.” It is unclear when the song will appear within the film itself.
