Fallout is coming to the TV screen soon, but not soon enough, and we are getting information one bit at a time. As usual, Culture Slate is on it and excited to reveal what little we can dig up, until Bethesda reveals everything fans want to know!

According to IGN, the Fallout series will tell a brand new story, but in the same Fallout world that we all know and love. There are some who pushed and asked for an adaptation that told the same story of Fallout 3 or Fallout 4, but Todd Howard, Bethesda director and executive producer of the Fallout TV series, has not felt that would be a great idea.

In an interview on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Howard says, “It’s not retelling a game story. It’s basically an area of the map. Let’s tell a story here that fits in the world that we have built, doesn’t break any of the rules, can reference things in the games, but isn’t a retelling of the games. It exits in the same world but is its own unique thing, so it adds to it. While also, people who haven’t played the games, who can’t experience how crazy cool Fallout is, can watch the series.”

As a Fallout fan, this can be great news if it is received well and liked by people, both who have and have not played the games. It also will add a fresh story in a fun and exciting universe that we know from the games. A small trailer that came out in October 2022 gives us clues that the story will happen around Vault 33, but we have very few details regarding the rest of the show. Hopefully other updates such as release dates and trailers will arrive soon!
