Popular Preschool Series 'Bluey' Is Getting Its First Videogame
Save up your dollar bucks, because the popular Australian preschool series Bluey will be getting its first console video game! Titled Bluey: The Video Game, it is being published by Outright Studios in cooperation with the BBC and is going to be a sandbox-style adventure title that will immerse the player in the world of the Heeler family. The game features four-player co-op play, and playable characters include Chili (“Mum”), Bandit (“Dad”), Bingo (the younger sister of Bluey), and Bluey herself. In addition, the original voice talent from the show will be reprising their roles for the game. The visual style of the game is a 2.5D side scroller featuring the cartoon artwork of the characters superimposed on a cel-shaded 3D background.
As for the gameplay itself, while it will be accessible and easy enough for the show’s preschool audience, the game features variable difficulty options for the older fans of the show as well, much like how the show itself has moments for the adults who might be watching the show with their children. These options include being able to toggle the UI, simple written on-screen instructions, and full voice-over. The game features an original four-part storyline that can be followed at the pace of the player featuring activities inspired by the show. Furthermore, the player can jump from story quests to other activities in the game to earn in-game rewards including costumes, stickers, new locations, and playable episodes. Bluey: The Video Game will “bum-shuffle” onto all major consoles “for real life” on November 17th of this year. Wackadoo!
