'Parks & Rec' Star Jim O'Heir Reportedly Involved In A 'Star Wars' Project

The Mandalorian was the first live-action TV series brought to Disney+ by Lucasfilm. The show was very well received by fans and has gone from strength to strength as to progressed, covering two seasons and leading to a spin-off show, The Book Of Boba Fett, along the way. Along with an ever-expanding storyline, The Mandalorian has also added many new characters and has been no slouch when it comes to recruiting top talent to fill those roles.

When it came to casting, Lucasfilm didn’t start small with The Mandalorian, with Pedro Pascal coming in from roles in Game Of Thrones and Narcos to play the titular bounty hunter Din Djarin/The Mandalorian. Although not having any history, Grogu became a massive hit for the show and one of The Mandalorian’s biggest stars. Season 1 also brought us Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Emily Swallows as The Armorer, and the infamous Gina Carano as Cara Dune.

Things then get turned up a notch in Season 2 as we had a significant storyline for Giancarlo Esposito as ex-Imperial Moff Gideon. In addition, new faces came in Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. Katie Sackoff, bringing to life Mandalorian Bo-Katan, both of whom had featured in The Clone Wars. We also saw Temuera Morrison bringing Boba Fett back to life alongside assassin Fennec Shand portrayed by Ming-Na Wen. It didn’t stop there, though, with Timothy Olyphant coming in to play Sheriff/Marshall Cobb Vanth with the show’s finale bringing in the big guns with the return of Mark Hamill as the legendary Luke Skywalker.

Filming for Season 3 of The Mandalorian is now underway, and it looks like there could be a new addition to the cast following a tease on the Parks & Recollection podcast. Rob Lowe and Alan Yang invited fellow Parks And Recreation star Jim O’Heir on to the show to talk about his upcoming project. As both actors and crew are always sworn to secrecy regarding Lucasfilm/Star Wars involvement, Jim O’Heir had to be vague when talking about what was coming next for him, although he let on that he was filming in New Mexico.

“Oh shoot. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say where I am. I can say a state. I’m in a state, New Mexico, I don’t know.”

Rob Lowe then jumped in with a naughty tease saying that he knew what Jim O’Heir was working on.

“I will say, Jim, I know what you’re working on, and it rhymes with the latest installment of Bar Wars.”

The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently filming and is supposedly due to wrap things up at the end of March 2022, ready for post-production and before the Ahsoka series commences filming in April. Most of The Mandalorian has been filmed at Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles and at a train yard in El Segundo. It’s been reported the filming at the train yard invoked a ship and a campsite in a desert location, so the New Mexico filming could be related to that.

With nothing being confirmed, it could be that Jim O’Heir has been filming a role as an as-yet-unnamed character in The Mandalorian Season 3. It is also possible that whatever he is involved with has nothing to do with The Mandalorian and is related to some other Star Wars project that Lucasfilm is working on in the background. Given the way these things tend to go, it would appear that we are expecting to see Tim O’Heir in The Mandalorian Season 3.

Tim O’Heir is best known for his role in Parks And Recreation as Jerry Gergich, but he is no stranger to science fiction, having had roles in Star Trek Voyager and the comedy 3rd Rock From The Sun.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to be released around Christmas 2022 and will be streaming exclusively on Disney+.

Do you think The Mandalorian Season 3 is where Tim O’Heir will appear in the Star Wars universe based on this small tease, or do you think he will show up somewhere else?
