Our First Look At The Live-Action 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Is Coming Later This Month
The day is nearly upon us.
It has been nearly five years since a photo of Appa floating above the ice with a non-descript Aang reaching up to touch the bison’s nose. Since then there has been a bevy of news to be released, from cast announcements, including the voice actor for the original Cabbage Man reprising his role for the live-action remake, to filming wrapping last year on the live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Now, word has come that the first look at the show will be shown to fans in just a couple of weeks on June 17th at the Netflix Tudum event in Brazil. The reveal will be broadcast live by the main four actors; Gordon Cormier who plays Aang; Kiawentiio, who plays Katara; Ian Ousley, who plays Sokka; and Dallas Liu, who plays Prince Zuko.
The live-action remake of the animated show on Netflix comes after years of waiting and development concern by fans. The original creators of the cartoon, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, were originally signed on to do the show, but later left for unclear reasons. Since then, they’ve gone on to found their own studio, Avatar Studios, and partnered back with Nickelodeon. But they haven’t abandoned the remake either. Word came down not long ago that Avatar Studios is involved in some capacity with the remake.
Things are starting to look up for Avatar: The Last Airbender fans.
