Orlando Bloom Throws In Hat To Join New 'Lord Of The Rings' Movies
It cannot be understated how much of a cultural phenomenon the Lord of the Rings films were. With each film being a smash hit at the box office, seventeen Oscars including Best Picture for the third film, and even things like “My Precious” being ranked as one of the top 100 most iconic film lines by the American Film Institute, The Lord of the Rings was a success by pretty much any measure. One of the most popular aspects of the film was Orlando Bloom’s take on the elf Legolas.
While Legolas did some things that were a little too over the top (surfing the shield, taking the mumakil down by himself, and running on falling stones being the most egregious examples) he may very well be the most popular character in all six films. As such, it’s no surprise that now that new live-action movies have been announced, Bloom wants to join in. When asked by Variety if he wanted to join in, he responded:
“Oh, man, those things are amazing. Yeah. I don’t know how they’d do it. I guess with AI you can do anything these days. But, if Pete [Peter Jackson] says jump, I say, ‘How high?’ I mean, he started my whole career.”
So far we don’t have much information on exactly what the new films will be, outside of the Andy Serkis-directed Gollum film to be released at some point. Whatever we get, Orlando Bloom is ready to play everyone’s favorite elf.
