Oni Press Cancels Appearance At San Diego Comic-Con Amid Layoffs During Management Restructuring
Turnover continues at Oni Press, a premier publisher of books, graphic novels, and more. Four employees with seemingly key roles are no longer with the Oregon-based company. Senior VP of Sales and Marketing Alex Segura, Sales Manager Henry Barajas, Senior Editor Amanda Meadows, and Editor Jasmine Amiri all have been dismissed from the company within the last week. Tara Lehmann, the company's head of Public Relations left Oni Press on her own accord to join TKO Studios. Meadows, Barajas, and Amiri took to Twitter to confirm their departures.
The continued turnover has compelled Oni Press to cancel its appearance at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con that runs from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24. Oni Press was scheduled to have a booth in the exhibit hall as well as two panels. Their cancellation was confirmed by San Diego Comic-Con.

These are just the most recent departures of several key employees amidst a restructuring of the company. Publisher James Lucas Jones and Executive Vice President of Creative and Business Development Charlie Chu had also been let go from the company. Tweets from various former employees of Oni Press suggest that the company is trimming down its creator-owned content and focusing on IPs only.
While much is still in the air about the continuation of projects currently in the works, everyone will be watching to see if Oni Press will be appearing in upcoming events like Emerald City Comic Con and Rose City Comic Con, which are local shows for the company. Fans of their books and comics may need to wait before getting any clarity on those projects.
