On June 23, 2023, the trading card game Magic: The Gathering’s Lord of the Rings became available to the public. Just one week after the official release, The One Ring has been found. Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Magic: The Gathering, in a boon to the secondary market and true to Tolkien's lore, only manufactured one card of The One Ring. Dave and Adam’s Card World has a $2 million bounty on the card. Dave and Adam want the card badly. They doubled their initial offer of $1 million less than a month after making it.

The One Ring was found by someone, who wishes to remain anonymous, and who understands the value of the card they had found. They immediately sent the card to PSA, a leading card authenticator. PSA verified that the card was real and gave it a mint 9 rating. That’s the second-highest possible rating. That doesn’t mean that the finder mishandled the card in any way. A mint 10 rating is only possible if the card is printed perfectly.

If the finder does indeed sell the card for $2 million, it will make it the most valuable trading card game card ever by a lot. The current record is held by a Magic: The Gathering Black Lotus from the Beta set. That one sold for $540,000 in March of this year.
