Nintendo Has Announced 'Pokemon Legends: Z-A'
During the latest Pokémon Presents held on February 27, otherwise known as Pokémon Day, the next mainline Pokémon game was announced. Titled Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the game is seemingly set “entirely within Lumiose City,” and will arrive sometime in 2025.
Lumiose City is the largest of the urban areas featured in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, the first of the mainline Pokémon games released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. Those games featured a region called Kalos, inspired by northern France. Lumiose City took great inspiration from Paris, as seen with the Eiffel Tower-inspired structure that resides in the central area.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an urban redevelopment program seems to be a core focus of the game, with the teaser trailer almost feeling like seeing a blueprint of the city in motion. Confirming the game to be arriving “simultaneously worldwide in 2025” for Nintendo Switch systems, the final few seconds of the trailer teased the return of Mega Evolution to the mainline games.
The other new game announcement of the Pokémon Presents was a mobile title. This game will bring the Pokémon Trading Card Game to mobile devices, with the ability to open two free packs of cards a day. It will feature a streamlined ruleset for battles, and quickly allow the trading of cards to friends. One other feature of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is the immersive cards, which allow players to view entire scenes based on the artwork of the cards. This new mobile game is set to arrive sometime this year.
