"I am deeply thankful for being selected by D.I.C.E. for this important award. It is a true honor to be recognized in this way, and I am extremely humbled,” Kondo said in a statement given to the Arts & Sciences Academy website.

Koji Kondo began his career with Nintendo in 1984, with his first project being the arcade version of Punch Out!!. Though not classically trained, Kondo has loved all musical instruments since childhood. Perhaps his best-known works come from the original Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda titles, with each of the games’ themes still iconic. He continues to be involved with those franchises, and his influence is still felt in the industry today. Congratulations to Kondo on this amazing honor!
